Attention Webelos (formerly Bears)

Posted on Jul 17 2010 - 7:27pm

A year ago, we decided to split the very large Wolf den into two dens. After much thought and consideration, we have decided to re-unite the two dens. Mr. Duncan has graciously volunteered to lead the new den, with the assistance of Ms. Totzkay and Mr. Pirro. You will be hearing more from them closer to September.

  • Den meetings will remain on Thursdays at 6:30.
  • The first pack meeting of the year will be held on Thursday, September 9th

The annual pack overnight trip this year will be held at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA on October 23-24th. All scouts who have completed their fall registration will have their admission paid for by the Pack. The cost for adults and siblings is $55 per person. Please note that this is a family event, and as such we expect that the scouts will attend with at least one adult family member.

Youth Protection Training Changes

Posted on Jul 17 2010 - 7:09pm

Recently, the Boy Scouts of America announced important changes to its Youth Protection policies. The purpose of these changes is to increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting.

Effective June 1, 2010:

  • Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers, regardless of their position.
  • New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
  • Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.

To find out more about the Youth Protection policies of the Boy Scouts of America and how to help Scouting keep your family safe, see the Parent's Guide in any of the Cub Scouting or Boy Scouting handbooks, or go to the BSA Youth Protection Training Website .

Current leaders will need to provide copies of their current Youth Protection training cards, if they have not done so already. The training is only good for 2 years, so please check to see if you’re due to go through the training again.

As always, we encourage all parents to go through youth protection training. This training is on-line and free of charge.

2010 - 2011 Registration Fees

Posted on Jul 17 2010 - 7:02pm

The pack is primarily funded through its popcorn sales. The registration fees that are collected are used to cover the re-chartering costs of the pack. Despite increases in the BSA registration fees introduced this year, our registration fee will remain at $25.
